We live in a new era of information access, knowledge creation and sharing. We are gradually forgetting the days when one would sit in the library and go through five or more text books to extract information and provide references. The emergence of many new technologies is making all of these tasks easier. Eventually, the use of several AI powered resources will be essential for any student to be able to study and comprehend even the most challenging concepts in any field.
However, the reluctance to fully integrate these tools into our educational frameworks could limit our ability to learn and innovate. While the adoption of AI in education does present ethical and practical challenges that must be addressed, the reality is that these technologies are here to stay. They are becoming more powerful every day and will be essential to how students learn and grow.
It is our moral obligation that we guide students to understand and identify biased outputs, validate the accuracy of the information they access and spot AI hallucinations. By doing this, we can prepare students for life beyond the classroom so that they can make even more positive impacts in their communities.
